Welcome Shelby Meehan

Shelby Meehan is in her second year of Divinity School at Duke and is a certified candidate for ordination in the United Methodist Church. Prior to attending Div School, Shelby served for two years as the youth director at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church right up the road, and before that she was a middle school teacher. She and her husband, Mike, met when they were both teaching seventh grade in Lake City, South Carolina, and moved to North Carolina when Shelby discerned a call to ministry. Mike is now in his fourth year of teaching at West Lake Middle School, while Shelby continues to discern where God is calling her.
Shelby was born and raised in Florida and grew up in the United Methodist Church. She attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina for her undergrad degree where she majored in Sociology. Her passions include music and singing, reading, writing, and all kinds of dogs. She and Mike currently live in Holly Springs but are building a house in Fuquay-Varina that they will be moving into in December. Mike is originally from Pittsburgh, so they are avid Steelers fans! They also love being outdoors, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and their sweet baby coonhound Leia. 🙂
Shelby is so excited for the opportunity to serve at Kipling UMC this school year and is looking forward to getting to know the wonderful people and the community of Kipling. She can’t wait to worship with you all on Sundays and to love and serve God and neighbor together!
