Come Take Eat – Original Song By Dee Songer

For those of you that missed it, Pastor Melinda asked Dee if she would help out with the music this past Communion Sunday and Dee replied with an original song! 🙂  The recording isn’t terrific, but the song is beautiful and the lyrics are very touching.  Enjoy!

“Come Take Eat”

Music and Lyrics by Dee Songer, 2012

After He gave the blessing
He broke the bread said, “Take eat”
Do this as you remember Me
What I did and now you believe… come “take eat”
Come take eat and Remember Me Remember Me
Come take eat come take eat As you remember Me as you remember Me
I gave all I had to give
I died that you might live
I’d do it again if need be
I love you that much come and see… Come “take eat”
Come take eat and remember Me Remember Me
Come take eat come take eat As you remember Me as you remember Me
The table was set with a purpose and plan
All the plates and the cups were blessed by the Lamb
And while one of them plotted, a selfish man
Twas a Mighty voice said I AM that I AM… and come “take eat”
Come take eat and remember Me Remember Me
Come take eat come take eat As you remember Me as you remember Me
All looked with intent
At the empty cup
The meaning unknown
The time was now up
He poured of the wine
Said this is My shed blood
You’ll drink this with Me
Where I go you know not of… But come “take eat”
Come take eat and remember Me Remember Me
Come take eat come take eat As you remember Me as you remember Me
The table was set with a purpose and plan
All the plates and the cups were blessed by the Lamb
He gave to them all again and again
Then a Mighty voice said I AM that I AM… and come “take eat”
Come take eat and remember Me Remember Me
Come take eat come take eat As you remember Me as you remember Me
Please remember Me; Take all that I came to Be
Come to My table, taste and receive… And come “take eat”

Come take eat and remember Me Remember Me
Come take eat come take eat As you remember Me as you remember Me…
COME TAKE EAT

Methodist Home For Children

We learn as young children that Jesus loves us and God’s promise of salvation is ours. But Peter the Apostle reminds us in Acts 2:39 that this promise belongs also to those who live “far off” from God. At Methodist Home for Children, we take God’s promise into some unimaginably far-off places. We take it to children who’ve been through revolving short-term foster placements, who were born addicted to drugs and who’ve suffered the worst types of physical and psychological abuse. We take it to teenagers who are lost to themselves because of substance abuse, mental illness and destructive behaviors. Please support this important United Methodist ministry with your gifts on MHC Sunday.  |  Visit  the Methodist Home For Children web page.

We will take donations on Feb. 19th and Feb. 26th.  Please consider giving to this this wonderful ministry!
